The wording on the sale documents was, ‘a house in ruins’. It was fair description! The property had stood empty for about 60 years and prior to that had partly been used to house livestock. One room was knee deep in rotting hay. The habitable spaces were rustic and very basic.
Our vision was to demolish part of the existing building to allow light and air to reach parts of the property hitherto unseen and create a beautiful, open-plan, three bedroom villa-style home surrounding a sun filled, south-facing courtyard. The walls have been fully insulated the roof replaced using old reclaimed tiles and each room now enjoys a pretty view and its own outside space.
Jennifer and Geoff, the new owners, have furnished the house beautifully with many finds from their international travels.
