An original vigneron house and cuvree in the center of Pommard was being sold at auction by the Hospice de Beaune. We had never purchased a property at auction in France and were daunted by the number of people who crowded into the Mairie for the sale. Our friends from the village were able to re-assure us that nearly everyone was either a friend or relative and they were only there to be nosey and see what happened first hand. We ended up being the sole bidder and secured the property at the reserve price.
Three, luxury, 2 bedroom apartments with either courtyard or roof terrace were designed as finished shell spaces. These have now been sold to Australian and Canadian families and finished according to their individual style and budgets.
