Sailmaker’s House is an 18th century warehouse overlooking the river at Limehouse. Duncan Dunbar shipped goods and prisoners to Australia and the Far East from here in the late 18th century.
We bought his sailmaker’s loft as a shell space in the mid 1990’s as London’s Docklands were being developed. We designed and fitted a luxury, 3 bedroom apartment with double height open-plan living/dining area and bespoke kitchen. The new steel and timber staircase reflects the industrial origins of the warehouse. The mezzanine master bedroom and en-suite bathroom are set up into the roof space and open onto a small roof garden.
The 130 sq m loft apartment retains all the character of this historic building with the existing timber roof frame the warehouse lifting platforms and the original floorboards.
